Meeting with Claire Malrieux and Sara Dufour at the occasion of the installation of the work SpeakBlue
Placed in the heart of the Hôtel de Lalande, this object designed by Claire Malrieux et Sara Dufour, allows the public to hear and appropriate multiple points of view on contemporary issues, synthesised within a single voice.
A language being composed of different layers of writing and prosodies, SpeakBlue shares its vision of the world, questions and invites people to discover the museum's works differently.
Beyond the content, Claire Malrieux's perfectly synthesized voice asks us about the philosophical and ethical issues that virtual techniques convey.
Claire Malrieux is a visual artist, her approach revolves around the search for a collaborative space and the tension between form and narrative. She questions narrative processes through a game of transposition between code, graphics and 2D and 3D printing. In her latest works, Atlas du Temps Présent, Économie Vibratoire and Climat Général, drawing is used as a language capable of capturing the structures of contemporary culture without dumbing them down. In this way, she explores not only the possibilities of a new syntax of drawing, conditioned by data and algorithms, but also the creation of specific digital tools, generative, parametric and hybrid between hand and machine. These cross-border forms between art and research encourage her to reflect on the meaning of the space of drawing in the digital and post-digital age and in digital culture more generally. By combining emerging technologies, history and fiction, her works take place in a singular space of art and engage in a dialogue with other fields, practices and fields of knowledge. The narrative forms play on the variations between known and apprehended, visible and invisible, and on temporal frameworks mixing past, present and future. Representation is contemplated as a heterogeneous whole where drawing is no longer linked to the laws of spatial perspective, but responds to a temporal perspective, made of strata, transformation, entropy and revolution.
Sara Dufour has been working for over fifteen years in the field of programming, curating and production. She has worked for the Paris Musées publishing house, the PERFORMA visual and performance art Biennal in New York, the Spectacles vivants at the Centre Pompidou and the Collège des Bernardins in Paris. Today she works for the structure she created, Maison Byron. There she accompanies artists and cultural actors, designs and produces events of all kinds in the field of the performing and visual arts, in dedicated spaces or in the public space. Two axes guide her artistic approach: a reflection on the renewal of the forms of address and the frameworks of representation, and an attentive and informed listening to the contemporary world.
