An exhibition presented as part of the Bordeaux 2019 Liberty! cultural season

Why and how to show the work of a writer in a museum?

The project stems first of all from the circumstances: the international conference "Lire, voir, penser l'œuvre de Jean-Philippe Toussaint" organized in Bordeaux by Le Belvédère littéraire francophone de la Nouvelle Aquitaine from June 18 to 21, 2019. Therefore, the idea of ​​hosting in parallel the author of La Salle de bain, L’Appareil photo, La Télévision in the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design is obvious.

The artist Ange Leccia joins Jean-Philippe Toussaint to create images and film editing that accompany the various excerpts from novels - Faire l’amour, Fuir, La Vérité sur Marie - read by the author.
Anna Toussaint, graphic designer and typographer, imagines installations to read extracts from the novel La Télévision.

La Chaise, unpublished text written by Jean-Philippe Toussaint for the exhibition, is on sale exclusively at the madd-bordeaux.
