Manufacto, the Skills Factory

Since 2021, the madd-bordeaux, as part of its mission of artistic and cultural education, has enrolled in the project Manufacto, the Skills Factory created by the Fondation d'entreprise Hermès

In 2016, the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès created Manufacto, an original programme designed to introduce schoolchildren to craft trades in partnership with the Paris school board, the Compagnons du Devoir, the Tour de France and the École Camondo (Paris). This skills factory allows pupils, from primary through to high school, to learn about crafts under the guidance of a professional welcomed into the establishment with the complicity of the teacher. The students design a contemporary object by discovering the gestures, techniques and tools of the craftsperson who transmit to them the pleasure of “doing”. Through this apprenticeship programme, Manufacto looks to change the perception of the craft field and even open up new possibilities in terms of education.

The madd-bordeaux's mission is to support children in the discovery of the craft skills of which its collections reflect. In 2021, he is participating in the Manufacto project by coordinating workshops in CM2 classes and visits to artisanal production workshops. This program is in addition to the artistic and cultural education actions (EAC) carried out by the museum for school audiences, for which it designs and develops an adapted program each year.
