Flashback

Focus on the recent donations and the last acquisitions

to 19.12.2021

Punctuating all the rooms of the hôtel de Lalande, this presentation reveals the recent acquisitions of the madd-bordeaux.

With a selection of more than 80 works of decorative arts and design, Flashback offers an inspiring dialogue between the objects and raises questions about varied themes such as the use, the materials, the shapes, the techniques and our emotional bond with the objects. The opportunity for the public to (re)discover remarkable pieces made by big names in design, including Ron Arad, François Bauchet, Pierre Charpin, Olivier Gagnère, Jaime Hayon, Chris Kabel, Peter Shire, Ettore Sottsass, Martin Szekely, Marcel Wanders et Daniel Weil.

This presentation pays tribute to the generosity of the donors, whose part is essential for the museum and the enrichment of its collections.

Meeting “Conversation around a piece of work… the Italian design” – Duration: 1h

With Justine Despretz, specialist in Italian design, collection design exhibition project manager at the museum of decorative arts and design in Bordeaux.

Guided tour of the collections: “To the discovery of design”

Saturday 29 May and Sunday 30 May at 3 pm by reservation.

Understand the designer’s approach, observe the connection between use and shape, make the link between savoir-faire and innovation, materials and function around a selection of vases, chairs and arts of the table objects, from the 1980s to the most contemporary. The design collection of the madd-bordeaux includes for instance a historical set of objects designed by the group Memphis and has never stopped growing with pieces of design iconic figures such as Ron Arad, Philippe Starck or Martin Szekely.

Admission fee for the collections + 1€/person.

Free for the holders of the Télérama pass.
