Xavier Védère

As the curator of the Bordeaux municipal archives from 1931 to 1963, Xavier Védère (1898-1992) was in charge of moving the archives to the Hôtel de Ragueneau. When Paul Courteault left the Musée d’Art Ancien (Museum of Ancient Art) in 1948, Védère took over as curator, supervising the refurbishment of the Hôtel de Lalande and the new presentation of the collections ranging from the Middle Ages to the 18th century.

Named curator of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (Decorative Arts Museum) in 1955, he directed the museum until 1972.
