Terrine couverte, Paul Hannong
In the query for the manufacturing of hard china, Strasbourg was the pioneer of a technical and esthetic revolution which gets ready in the middle of the XVIIIth century and came from Germany. Hard working on this project, the earthenware manufacturer Paul Hannong invents new molds and new painted decors. But, awaiting for the royal Patents which would make of him a porcelain maker, his new style projects are executed in earthenware, such as this beautiful covered tureen of our collections.
