Portefeuille-écritoire d'André-François Le Berthon
This portefeuille-écritoire is a utility object of great refinement. Covered in red Morocco leather and decorated with rocaille motifs, it holds silver objects datable back to 1782 with the following dedication inscribed in gold letters : "Mr Le Berthon, first president of the Bordeaux Parliament". This inscription, seemingly obvious to the casual glance, could actually refer to one of the two Le Berthon family members who succeeded each other in that function in the middle of the 18th century. A testimony of the taste of great parliamentary Bordeaux families, this object has yet to unveil more of its secrets.
