object n°43
Épée de cour à la française
1960
This small-sword, used mainly in court and created by an anonymous armourer at the eighteenth century, is an intermediary between the war weapon and the fencing sword.
Also named “Estoc sword” due to its capacity to come through the body of enemies, it’s a weapon but also a splendour object of the elite. Following the fashion as a costume, its elegant decorations are intended to represent the social and wealthy condition of its owner
