The collection

The collections of MADD Bordeaux bring together nearly 33,000 works, from the Middle Ages to the present day. They bear witness to the production of decorative arts and design in the West, illustrating typologies as diverse as tableware, furniture, weapons, musical instruments and also including new uses. Through their eclecticism and richness, the museum’s collections highlight and contribute to the knowledge of traditional know-how as well as the most recent technologies. They also have an important collection of paintings, sculptures and graphic arts, particularly related to the history of Bordeaux and the life of the last royal families in France.
